Upcoming in 2018

August 5 (Sunday, workshops all day, concert 7:30-9:30 p.m.): Dave Reiner, Laurel Martin, David Kaynor, and Cathy Mason will be teaching fiddle workshops at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels at the Fruitlands Fiddle Fest.  Fiddlers, cellists, mandolin, banjo players will also find opportunities to learn, jam and practice performing at open mic sessions.  Pack up a picnic basket, bring a blanket and enjoy the music and the workshops.  The museum galleries will be open, as well, for participants to enjoy during the lunchbreak.  The day will conclude with an evening concert performed by the instructors, with Eric backing up Dave Reiner and David Kaynor.  The Fruitlands Museum galleries and trails remain open for museum visitors with regular admission 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  The workshops cost $75 for Members of The Trustees of Reservations and $90 for Nonmembers.  Friends and family may purchase tickets separately for the evening concert; admission to the evening concert only is $10 for Members and $15 for Nonmembers.

August 9 (Thursday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.): Eric, Autumn Rose Lester (fiddle), and Dan Faiella (guitar) play for the Thursday Contras series presented by NEFFA, at the Concord Scout House, 72 Walden Street, Concord, MA.  Beth Parkes will be calling.  Admission is $10, or $5 for people 22 and under.

August 18 (Saturday, 7:30-11:00 p.m.): The Moving Violations (Ron Grosslein, Van Kaynor, and Eric Eid-Reiner) play for the 3rd Saturday Greenfield Contra Dance, with Nils Fredland calling.  There will be a newcomers' workshop from 7:30-8:00 p.m. and a contra dance from 8:00-11:00 p.m. The Guiding Star Grange, 401 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA. Entry to the dance is $10-12, or $8 for students.

September 8 (Saturday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.): Eric plays the Wethersfield/Hartford, CT Contra Dance with Becca Bosworth-Clemens (clarinet) and David Kaynor (fiddle).  Sandy LaFleur will be calling.  Optional beginner's workshop at 7:15 p.m.  American Legion Post, 275 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT.  Admission $12, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students.

September 15 (Saturday, 7:30-11:00 p.m.): The Moving Violations (Ron Grosslein, Van Kaynor, and Eric Eid-Reiner) play for the 3rd Saturday Greenfield Contra Dance, with Bob Isaacs of New Jersey calling.  There will be a newcomers' workshop from 7:30-8:00 p.m. and a contra dance from 8:00-11:00 p.m. The Guiding Star Grange, 401 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA. Entry to the dance is $10-12, or $8 for students.

October 6 (Monday - Columbus Day, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.): Eric plays with David Reiner (his Dad - on fiddle, mandolin), Paul Harty (guitar, mandolin, vocals, harmonica), and Andy Reiner (his brother - on fiddle, mandolin, vocals) at the Buell's Orchard Fall Festival.  Come on out and pick apples, eat apple cider and apple cider donuts, go on a hayride, eat lunch, see the candy apple factory, shop at the store... and of course, listen to music!  Always a fun day!  Buell's Orchard, 108 Crystal Pond Road, Eastford, CT.  Free admission!  Rain or shine!  Contact 860-974-1150 with any questions.

November 1-4 (Thursday-Sunday): Eric plays for various workshops/sessions at the 14th Annual Fiddle Hell as well as helping with logistics for the event.  Fiddle Hell has expanded to be 4 days this year!  Over the course of the weekend, Eric will accompany several New England and other jams, play for the contra dance, accompany a few folks in the concert, and more.  The weekend features dozens of fiddlers from around the country, teaching and leading jams in many, many styles!  It's a blast for sure!  There are typically 300+ fiddler (as well as viola, mandolin, and cello) participants!!  On Saturday night, there will be a concert (7:00-9:30 p.m.) and contra dance (9:30-11:00 p.m.) open to the public.  This will be our fifth year at The Westford Regency, 219 Littleton Road, Westford, MA.  Sessions, workshops, the concert and dance, late night jams, and (optional) lodging are all be under one roof!  Check out the Reiner Family Band web site for more info, cost for the weekend, and the full schedule for Fiddle Hell.

Upcoming in 2019

January 18-20 (Friday evening-Sunday afternoon): The Moving Violations play for the Orange Blossom Ball Contra Dance Weekend.  The other band will be Giant Robot Dance -- Andrew VanNorstrand on fiddle and guitar, Noah VanNorstrand on drums, Andrew Marcus on accordion, Aaron Marcus on piano/banjo/concertina, and Michael and Alex Ferguson both on trombones.  The callers for the weekend are Lisa Greenleaf, Bob Isaacs, and Andy Shore.  There will also be waltz sessions with Sound Traveler Band.  Dance all weekend to lots of live music on a sprung dance floor!  Gold Star Ballroom, 3100 S. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach, FL.  The cost for the weekend is $105 in advance ($115 onward if space still available); registration details are available on the web site.

February 1 (Friday, 7:00-10:30 p.m.): The Moving Violations (Ron Grosselin, Van Kaynor, and Eric Eid-Reiner) play for the 1st Friday Mostly Waltz Dance.  There will be a beginners' workshop 7:00-7:30 p.m., an intermediate workshop 7:30-8:00 p.m., and couples dances (mostly waltzes) 8:00-10:30 p.m.  The Guiding Star Grange, 401 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA.  Entry to the dance is $10 for as much of the evening as you wish to enjoy.

March 3 (Sunday, 3:00-6:00 p.m.): Eric plays for the Mostly Waltz Hartford Dance with fiddler Ron Grosslein.  There will be a free beginner's lesson led by TBA from 2:00-3:00 p.m., followed by dancing from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  The music will be mostly waltzes, as well as swing tunes, tangos, polkas, hambos, and more! June 20 (Thursday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.): The Moving Violations play for the Contra Prom, an annual tradition of Thursday Contras series presented by NEFFA, at the Concord Scout House, 72 Walden Street, Concord, MA.  TBA will be calling.  Admission is $10, or $5 for people 22 and under.

October 25 (Friday, time TBA): The Moving Violations (Ron Grosselin, Van Kaynor, and Eric Eid-Reiner) play for the 4th Friday Challenging Contra Dance in Greenfield with TBA calling.  The Guiding Star Grange, 401 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA.  Admission TBA.
